EDC and CTMS Together (23 Jul 2008)

Winchester and Afferenz have announced a marketing partnership that offers EDC and CTMS from a single, hosted, ASP, or licensed source.

Winchester's CTMS called Protocol Manager is interfaced with the popular EDC and DMS from Afferenz called Acceliant.

Like Winchester's Protocol Manager, Acceliant is offered as (1) licensed; (2) hosted; or (3) as an ASP (SaaS) solution.

Winchester and Afferenz have created interface points such that investigators have a single sign on. Through a common Investigator Portal. Company Project Managers and CRAs have one interfaced-system to work with in managing all of the data and documents related to a clinical trial.

You have a single source for all clinical systems.

So the answer to your question "Do you guys have EDC and CTMS capability as well?" is yes we do have that capability. Electronic Data Capture, Data Management, and CTMS can be hosted together through the single ASP service. It's all totally web based. The low price may shock you. The combined price is less than you may be now paying for data management alone!

EDC and DMS (Acceliant) . . . The combining of Acceliant with Protocol Manager places a comprehensive EDC and DMS within reach of small to mid-range companies. Based upon the industry's most-popular database management systems, Acceliant provides all of the features, capabilities, security, and breadth of the more-expensive systems, at a price that the smaller company can afford. Acceliant is also offered with provisioning, trial buils, and help desk services.

CTMS (Protocol Manager) . . . The Protocol Manager is the most comprehensive, web-based Clinical Trial Management System available on the market today. Like Acceliant, Protocol Manager combines all of the features necessary for a company that needs to manage clinical trials including sponsors (pharmas, biotechs, and medical devices) to Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and Site Management Organizations (SMOs). Although features, functionality, compliance, and security are important factors in choosing a CTMS, price is just as important. With Protocol Manager's "By-the-Trial" pricing, Protocol Manager is the most practically-priced CTMS on the market today. Protocol Manager is offered with deployment, trial build, and help desk services.

EDC and CTMS Connected . . . Winchester and Afferenz have built the interface adaptors that seamlessly interface the EDC and CTMS to each other. No more double-entry of data, first to EDC and then to CTMS, to achieve a system result that highlights the true status of a clinical trial. The trial team can be assured that an entry made to the EDC system that indicates a patient visit is complete can be assured that the CTMS will then generate the appropriate investigator payment item.

Investigator Portal -- Single Sign On . . . The Investigator Portal helps prospective investigators to review limited trial information prior to applying as a candidate to investigate a trial. The portal helps the trial team with the recruiting task. Once recruited, the portal provides access to the Investigator Site only information about staffing, correspondences, calendar events and appointments, patient statuses, and patient visit information. Depending upon the needs of the trial, the Investigator Site may enter patient enrollment, screening, and visit information directly through the portal. If the trial is using an EDC system or an IVRS, an interface adaptor is available for most commercially-available systems to allow the direct interface of patient enrollment, screening, and visit information as soon as it is available. This makes the CTMS the "one place" to look to determine all trial metrics regardless of how many and which systems have been deployed. Plans for the next release of the Investigator Portal is to assist with the provisioning of sites and direct "single sign-on" capabilities through the portal, stay-tuned!

Trial Team Portal . . . In addition to the Investigator Portal, the Trial Team portal allows monitors and other field personnel to work with respective documents and information using an Internet Browser to access the web-based Protocol Manager. The portal is entirely web-based. The trial team member connects with the CTMS over the Internet.

Extended Design and Dashboards . . . For the trial team member who wishes to see only the data and information the pertains to them, trial role-sensitive dashboards quickly provide access to the users' information.

SaaS Hosted Model . . . Protocol Manager and Acceliant are available as a "hosted solution" with two models. One model applies the CTMS and EDC to the "by the trial" approach. A sponsor or CRO may essentially buy hosted CTMS and EDC availability and services on a trial-by-trial basis. The second model is the "hosted enterprise" model. The sponsor or CRO buys an enterprise license for the CTMS and EDC and also buys hosting services to use the system.
